Car Radiator Repair

The radiator in your vehicle is designed to remove the heat generated by the engine to the air in order to regulate the engine temperature and prevent overheating.  The engine block and cylinder head contain passageways filled with coolant (usually a mixture of water and glycols).  The coolant is pumped around the car engine by the water pump and absorbs the heat generated in the engine by the combustion process.  When it reaches the radiator the coolant flows through a series of tubes where it is transferred to the outside air via fins. The fins greatly increase the surface area of the radiator to make heat transfer more efficient.

Why radiators fail and start leaking

Poor maintenance is the main reason why you can be left with a leaking car radiator, which can lead to the radiators failing. If the coolant has not been checked or topped up properly the inside of the cooling system will begin to rust and become clogged. Corrosion will eventually result in small holes developing. This will result in engine coolant loss, and a need for car radiator repair.

K-Seal to the rescue

K-Seal will permanently repair and fix most leaks in the radiator or radiator casing. Although the radiator may be one of the cheaper components in the car engine it can still cost hundreds of pounds to have it repaired or replaced. Just one bottle of K-Seal could quite easily save you a lot of money by fixing an engine coolant leak instead of replacing the parts.

Some rubber or epoxy seals and radiator hoses may also deteriorate over time but this type of leak may not be suitable for K-Seal. For larger holes such as those caused by stones hitting the radiator you should use QuikSteel Epoxy Putty – the world’s toughest putty used and recommended by professional motor mechanics.
