Credit Points

The first 40 credit points of this course consist of the units in the Graduate Certificate in Health Administration. The second 40 credit points of this course are derived from the Graduate Diploma in Health Administration.

Students have the option to pursue a coursework stream or a research stream within this course:

  • The coursework stream consists of project work or a combination of project and an elective (total value of 40 credit points).
  • The research stream consists of a research dissertation valued at 40 credit points.

Exit Point

Students may exit with either of the following relevant awards provided they have completed the required units specified within the degree:

  1. Graduate Certificate in Health Administration (40 cp from Health Administration units).
  2. Graduate Diploma in Health Administration (80 cp from Health Administration units).

Important Note on Fees

All costs are calculated using current rates and are based on a full-time study load of 40 credit points (normally 4 units) per semester.

A student’s annual fee may vary in accordance with:

  • the number of units studied per semester;
  • the choice of major or specialisation; and
  • elective units.

The University reviews fees annually.

A 10% rebate on fees will be offered to domestic ACU graduates (from any faculty) enrolling in full fee-paying postgraduate studies in the Faculty of Health Sciences to commence studying in 2015 and until further notice. Conditions apply .

International students need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy .

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Health Administration, an applicant must have completed either:

  1. a Bachelor degree in a health discipline or equivalent;
  2. the Graduate Certificate in Health Administration; OR
  3. the Graduate Diploma in Health Administration.

This Masters degree will expand your knowledge and skills in health administration.

Graduates of the Master of Health Administration students will be able to:

  • evaluate issues and challenges that confront the industry, health care professionals and consumers of their services
  • conceptualise new and creative approaches to health care administration to support service delivery in diverse health care settings
  • connect theory, practice and research within health administration
  • examine the ethical aspects of personal, social, cultural, environmental and institutional changes within contemporary health care delivery and respond to such changes
  • reflect on options and opportunities to enhance professional practice in contemporary local, regional and global health care contexts
  • contribute to values-based professional practice in dynamic and challenging environments.

Students with a Student Visa will need to complete the program in minimum duration, study at least one subject on-campus each semester and must not undertake more than 25% of the program online.

Important Note on Fees

The Tuition fees quoted above are for commencing students in the current year who undertake a normal full-time load. Fees are reviewed annually.

Tuition fees for continuing students may increase by up to 3 percent each year for the minimum duration of the course as provided on your electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE). Students who continue to study beyond the minimum duration will have the relevant annual commencing rate applied to their fees for subsequent study periods.

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Health Administration, an applicant must have completed a Bachelor degree in a health discipline or equivalent.

In addition to meeting the admission requirements, applicants must have an overall academic IELTS of 6.5 (with an individual score of 6.0 in writing, speaking, listening and reading).
